There are some opportunities you just instantly know you’ve got to reach out and grab. When my mother and Pippa told me about the Rise Above Barriers’ expedition to Everest, I knew immediately this was one of those rare opportunities. All the ingredients were there. Who could pass up a chance to make dreams come true with family and friends, all set against the backdrop of some of the world’s most spectacular scenery. Simply put, it’s a no brainer!

When I’m not staring at my computer screen, day dreaming about this trip, I work as a Reporter and News Producer with the CBC. I love my work, but my passion is the outdoors. For the past 15 years I’ve been living in Gatineau, Quebec but before that I spend many years living in British Columbia. Both places offer some spectacular outdoor adventure opportunities. Hiking, climbing, canoeing, skiing, running, fishing, I love them all. Fortunately my wife, Emmanuelle and my teenaged kids Catherine-Anne and David enjoy the outdoors just as much as I do!

Anyone who has met Pippa quickly recognizes her resolve, perseverance and determination. It will be a privilege to team up with her, my mother, and the rest of the squad, on an expedition that is sure to be to be a once in a lifetime experience.
