Namaste

I was born and grew up in beautiful Victoria, BC, Canada. After completing a computer science degree at the University of Victoria, I continue to live and work in Victoria as a computer programmer for a foodservice company.

My love for the outdoors has always been at the forefront of my interests. On the weekends I can usually be found with my wonderful partner, Robyn, kayaking the waters around Vancouver Island or hiking on one of our many trails. I have also hiked extensively throughout the Canadian Rockies and recently traveled in Egypt. My other passions include ice hockey, cycling, snowboarding, rowing, dragon boat, guitar, and painting.

One day Robyn told me about Pippa and the TrailRider. She told me that she was considering going along on this amazing trek with Pippa to Mt. Everest Base Camp. I was naturally thrilled for her but I have to admit that I was also a little envious. So you can imagine my excitement when, after being introduced to Pippa during an MS fundraiser, the first thing she said to me was, "Do you want to go to Nepal?" It wasn't a difficult decision.

Like a lot of people I used to know nothing about Multiple Sclerosis. Living with Robyn, who works at the MS Society of Canada, I have come to learn a little about the daily struggles and triumphs of those living with this disease. From what I have seen, Pippa is not somebody to let a disability stop her from accomplishing her dreams no matter how big. Her positive attitudes combined with an uncanny amount of energy seem to be infectious. I draw inspiration from her and I feel very fortunate to be a part of such a diverse team.

I think this project will be a springboard for those with disabilities to dare to explore the unbeaten paths and discover nature, something that even a lot of able-bodied people take for granted. I hope that it will shift attitudes and I know that it will be a life changing experience for me personally. I look forward to the journey.
